AS - What went Well:
- Creativity: We developed our ideas as a group fairly quickly as we all had similar influences and ideas about what we wanted to create. This enabled us to begin other aspects ad move on to the planning stage fairly promptly.
- Research and Planning: The work load was evenly distributed between the members of our group. This was good because it meant that the work was done quickly and also that everyone was involved and could cope with the workload.
- Digital Technology: We worked a lot on iMovie as this is what we used to do all of our editing. We learned predominantly through trial and error, which did make up some time, but we now have skills and knowledge about the software that we wouldn't have gained otherwise.
- Post-Production: We spent time to make sure that our editing was as precise as we could make it in order to get a professional effect, which I think we achieved very well.
- Real Media Conventions: We supported the typical conventions of a horror film. this genre includes things such as a main protagonist, dark lighting, sinister music, and a gory plot.
A2 - What I would do better:
- Creativity: We would create a more definate storyline, so that the whole group is consistent in knowing exactly what happens, and we wouldn't leave some questions unanswered, as this was an issue we faced during our filming and editing stages.
- Research and Planning: For the planning stages we thought that we would start earlier and be more efficient with our planning to allow for more time to complete later stages which may take longer. We would also stick to the deadlines that we set ourselves as this is something we didn't do in AS.
- Digital Technology: During AS we attempted to use Garage Band on the apple macs, however we came across many problems and couldn't use it, which ended up wasting our time. next time we would ensure that we either use software that we know how to work, or we decide quicker to find a new method of completing something.
- Post-Production: Our only improvement for the editing aspect of our coursework was our time management, we know now that we need to give ourselves more time to do it and allow for time to reshoot some clips if needed. We also think it would be beneficial to plan and schedule of editing, that way we know exactly what we need to include and how must we've already completed.
- Real Media Conventions: Originally we wanted to subvert the conventions often associated with horror films, however we ended up not doing this, which we were slightly disappointed about. We would therefore make sure that we imbed these idea into our plot so that they are a key theme, and also give ourselves time to research and apply the information properly.
